Hi So Bastien here. Um, I'm really glad to start the podcast with you. And if you have any questions, feedback and so on, I'm really happy to, to answer you. You can DM me on LinkedIn and I'm trying to get like a, an episode of five minutes together. where I can share to you my learnings as a marketer. So before I joined different companies, uh, from seed round or series A round where I grew up my own marketing team, we were like a really small team and we tried to compete with companies, uh, who raised like four weeks or five weeks more than us. And I currently founded Hublet, uh, which is a SaaS tool like HubSpot LinkedIn integration, and I'm doing the marketing and sales side. So I'm trying to, uh, show you how I learn, uh, marketing and what I'm learning every day. Okay. Uh, so how I became a marketer, uh, everything started with a four hour work week, uh, book as, uh, you know, I guess, uh, from the author, uh, Tim Ferriss, learned a lot from him and I really liked the way he approached marketing, uh, in a hacky way, I would say. So. How did I build my career and how did I build my skills inside marketing because I'm doing like outbound, inbound, ads, SEO, I'm doing everything, even partnerships and branding. So you start by searching for people that is good in the industry. So you can search on LinkedIn, Twitter, check their blog. There are plenty of people really interesting. The last book I read was a founder brand. by dave Gerrard, really good guy who helped the founder of Drift and Privy. So, uh, If you definitely want to learn how to breed your brand, you should differently check this book. I try to read two to three books per month. It's very hard whenever you're, you want to start your company. If I'm really honest, I will be like, uh, one to two books a month. But if everything was in the book, it would be really simple for everyone. So how can you improve your skills? So what you really need to do is to connect with people outside your organization. Okay. You need to outreach few marketers on a weekly basis on LinkedIn. Very simple. You sent a LinkedIn connection. I prefer to put it simple. I don't, I don't add any messages because you are in the same industry. So people will be, uh, curious about you. And when they accept, I just send a message like, Hey, we're doing the same thing, same job in different organization. Maybe we can have a call together and see how we can measure our knowledge. Very simple, straightforward, and I 10 to 15 percent, uh, of reply rate on this one. And what you're trying to achieve is to meet two new people every week. Okay? You try to have two new meetings with two different people every week. You will get maybe repetitive meetings with the one you, uh, really like, you had something in common, you shared like the same ambition or whatever you want, but you have to meet new people on a weekly basis. And the first thing I did, it's from a book I read, is the Startup of You, uh, with Roy Hoffman and Ben Casnocha, uh, something they talk about is how you can leverage the network, but your current network. So. What they advise and what they did, for example, with Red Hoffman after PayPal, They had a monthly meeting between people who left the company, left PayPal after the acquisition. Why did they do that? Because they were able to share their knowledge, their new experiences, their problems they faced, and people can help each other. And think about that, like every day, every week, you're working and you learn a lot of things. Let's imagine you can think with two or three people on a weekly basis, and you can share what you learn. That's what I did with some friends of mine from the school. After school, we Uh, one year after that, just started to have a weekly meeting together. We were all doing like marketing except one guy, uh, doing like freelancing for bubble, but we had a common objective, like starting a business somehow and doing marketing and something like that. And we shared a lot of things. Sometimes someone was in the big companies or the one was in a small company. But we were still sharing our insights and frankly, it helped us a lot to grow our business, to grow our mindsets, to learn a lot of things. You can have intuition, like let's say, for example, you have a friend doing two new meetings on a weekly basis and you are doing two. So after that, you can just refer your friend to the guys you, uh, already met this week. And it makes it pretty powerful. You see, like you can get like two meeting, he's getting two meetings and the next week you already have your two next meeting. So really, I encourage you to get a group with some people with the common objective as you come on a mission, for example, and you're trying to solve a problem together. Like how can we grow as marketers? How can we grow our skills? How can we learn inbound, outbound ads, SEO, and so on? Okay. So if you liked this podcast, feel free to leave a review.
